(PAOLI) - It is unclear when Paoli Peaks will open this year.
The unseasonably warm weather is a repeat of last year events and didn't open till after the new year.
By this time officials hoped they could announce an opening day, but now they are just hoping temperatures get cold enough to start making snow.
"There are a few things that need to align for ideal snowmaking conditions like cold temperatures but not just for an hour or 2 on a few select nights," Lauren Grenier, Director of Marketing and Administrations says. "We need sustained cold temps to achieve an opening base."
Paoli Peaks has more than 100 snow guns on the slopes. When the cold temps do drop the staff will be able to lay down a decent amount of snow in a short amount of time.
While crews are waiting for the weather to change, they are finishing up preparations for the season: training staff, testing equipment, and readying the snow guns.
When opening day does arrive, Grenier says they will be ready.
"In the meantime, our snowmakers are on call to start making snow as soon as we are able to," she added.
As a reminder, pre-season hours are still in effect. The office is open Monday-Friday (9 a.m. till 4:30 p.m.) to assist with any questions as well as gift card and season pass purchases and pick up.
The Paoli Pro Shop is open Saturdays & Sundays 1 p.m. till 5 p.m. and by appointment through the week until Paoli Peaks opens for the season. Shop for equipment, clothing, and accessories. While you're here, they can also tune your ski and snowboard equipment.
