(CROTHERSVILLE) - A Michigan woman was killed and two others injured in an accident on I-65 Sunday night.
According to Indiana State Master Trooper Rick Hewitt, the accident was reported at 5:30 p.m. on I-65 southbound, just south of Crothersville.
The single-vehicle crash killed 100-year-old Eleanor Burklow, of Portage Michigan and left the driver 74-year-old Richard Gulbis, of Kalamazoon, Michigan and his wife 72-year-old Sharon Gulbis both seriously injured. They were taken to the University of Louisville Hospital.
According to police Richard Gulbuis was traveling south on I-65 when he lost control of his 2006 Buick Rendezvous. The car left the west side of the road and overturned.
Sharon Gulbuis' mother Eleanor Burklow died at the scene from her injuries.
Troopers say dropping temperatures and a light snow falling in the area may have been contributing factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
Trp. Hewitt was assisted by Trp. Robert Hutson, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, the Scott County Sheriff's Department, Vernon Township Fire Department, Jackson County EMS, and the Jackson County Coroner's Office.
