(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he became angry and attacked a woman Monday afternoon.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to a home in the 1900 block of 26th Street after a woman reported that she had been choked.
When police arrived they found the woman in her stocking feet outside of the home.
"She then motioned them to follow her into the home," Parsley says. "Once inside officer found 43-year-old Edwards Jaggers. Mr. Jaggers held his hands out to be handcuffed."
Jaggers admitted to becoming angry and attacked the woman and choked her.
Police separated the two and took statements.
"Mr. Jaggers says he grabbed the woman and as she slipped down his hands went around her neck," Parsley added. "However, the woman says Jaggers got on top of her and choked her. She was able to get away and call police."
Parsley says the woman did not seek medical attention.
Jaggers was arrested on charges of domestic battery, strangulation and criminal confinement.
