(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he allegedly injured a woman during a domestic fight Tuesday night.
According to Lawrence County Police Department Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, officers were called to a home in the 300 block of Vinegar Hill Road just after 10 p.m. after a woman called police to report she was injured.
When police arrived they found the woman had suffered abrasions to the right side of her neck and a cut that was bleeding on her right forearm.
"While investigating officers learned that 54-year-old James York had picked the victim up in the 1700 block of K Street to talk about marital problems," Shoults added. "At some point, while driving, the victim tried to exit the vehicle after asking James to stop and let her out, he refused."
Shortly thereafter the woman got out of the car and that is when York allegedly wrestled her to the ground attempting to take her cell phone, which he did.
The woman got back in the car and was driven to the home in the 300 block of Vinegar Hill Road.
Once at the home the woman was knocked to the floor of a bedroom and chocked by York.
"She attempted at one point to flee out a bedroom window because James blocked her exit from the bedroom," Shoults added. "The window broke and caused the injury to the victim's forearm."
York was arrested on charges of domestic Violence with injury in the presence of a minor and criminal confinement.
The woman declined medical treatment and was provided with domestic violence information.
