(BLOOMFIELD) - Bloomfield Town Marshal Kenny Tharp says his department is the first in Greene County to carry Narcan in patrol vehicles.
Narcan, a nasal spray, can quickly reverse the effects of an opiate overdose, such as oxycodone, hydrocodone morphine or heroin. The medication can bring the person out of a comatose state in less than a minute.
The medication was donated to the department by Greene County General Hospital, with training provided by the ambulance department. Four full-time officer have been trained on administering the medication.
