(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police were called to IU Health Bloomington Hospital Monday after a report a man had suffered a gunshot wound.
Officers arrived just after 11:30 p.m. to find a 22-year-old man had suffered a gunshot wound to his left thigh.
A 21-year-old man told police he had accidently shot his best friend.
According to Bloomington Police Capt. Steve Kellams, the man had recently purchased a 9mm Glock pistol and the two were sitting on the couch at a home in the 2600 block of South Addisyn Lane when the gun accidentally discharged, sending a bullet through his friend's thigh.
He drove his friend to the emergency room from his residence in the 2600 block of South Addisyn Lane.
Capt. Kellams says the shooting was an accident and no criminal charges will be filed.
Capt. Kellams says injured man was treated and released.
