(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested Wednesday after police were called to his parent’s home after a report of a battery.
Police arrived at the home on in the 870 block of Davey Cox Road at 5 a.m. after a male called police saying 30-year-old Kyle Edwards had hit his mother.
When police arrived, his parents told them Edwards had a prescription drug abuse problem and had been using their credit cards to order prescription drugs over the internet.
"They advised that they cancelled the cards he had been using and when he came to them early in the morning asking for their credit cards they told him they were cancelled," Sheriff Mike Branham says. "That is when Kyle became angry and shoved the victim violently backward with both hands."
Police were also told that Edwards had stolen several of his father's prescription Clonazepam pills from an unopened and sealed bottle.
Edwards was arrested on charges of battery and theft.
