Two Martinsville Men Jailed, Stolen Vehicle Recovered After Traffic Stop

Last updated on Friday, January 15, 2016

(CRAWFORD CO.) - A Thursday morning traffic stop ended with the recovery of a stolen vehicle and two Martinsville men behind bars.

At 10:48 a.m., Indiana State Senior Trooper Josh Livingston was patrolling State Road 37 in Crawford County when he observed a bronze 2000 Buick LeSabre traveling at what appeared to be a high-rate of speed.

Livingston pulled over the Buick on SR 37 near Governor's Trace Road after his radar indicated that the Buick was traveling 71 miles per hour in a 55-mile per-hour zone.

During the traffic stop, Livingston learned that the Buick was entered as a stolen vehicle from the Martinsville area by the Martinsville Police Department, and that the driver, 35-year-old John K. Hendrickson of Martinsville, was driving with a suspended driver's license and had a prior conviction for the same offense.

Livingston also learned that Hendrickson's passenger, 34-year-old Ronald E. Burress III of Martinsville, was wanted on a warrant through the Indiana Department of Corrections for escape.

Both men were arrested without incident and booked into the Crawford County Jail.

Hendrickson was charged with theft and receiving stolen property, and driving while his driver's license was suspended with a prior conviction.

Burress was arrested on the warrant charging him with escape.
