(BLOOMINGTON) - IU Police Bloomington are investigating a reported attempted armed robbery/aggravated battery that occurred in the early morning hours Sunday near the intersection of Law Lane and Union Street.
A student reported that he was walking near the intersection of Law Lane and Union Street near the railroad tracks at 3:15 a.m. when he was approached by another male, who attempted to rob him.
The victim told the suspect he did not have any money.
The suspect patted the victim down and stabbed the victim once in the lower abdomen before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.
There are no details regarding the type of weapon used.
The victim ran to his residence from the scene and was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle by a friend. Staff at IU Health Bloomington Hospital notified police at approximately 4:25 a.m. The injury is not believed to be life-threatening.
The suspect was described as an African-American, unkempt, middle-aged man with a black beard. He was approximately 6 feet tall, wearing black hoodie with logo and black sweatpants.
