(COLUMBUS) - A Freetown man was arrested after he was caught driving a stolen truck near Columbus Regional Hospital Thursday night.
Police arrested 50-year-old Phillip Pace on charges of auto theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while his driver's license was suspended.
Columbus police officer Troy Love stopped Pace after he ran the license plate and learned it belonged to a different vehicle.
The officer asked Pace to step out of the vehicle and that is when he noticed Pace place something under the seat.
A search of the vehicle recovered drug paraphernalia.
Officers also learned the truck, a 1988 Chevrolet S-10, had been reported stolen out of Decatur County.
Pace was arrested and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail where he is being held on a $15,000 bond.
