(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington resident has joined the list of those seeking to represent Indiana House District 65.
Jacob Franklin, a Republican, filed to run for the seat currently held by Rep. Eric Koch, R-Bedford, who is running for the State Senate seat being vacated by fellow Bedford Republican Sen. Brent Steele.
Democrat Chris Woods and Republican Mark Mathis also have filed to run for the seat, which represents all of Brown County, most of Lawrence County and parts of Monroe, Jackson and Johnson counties.
Franklin, who has more than 13 years of experience within county and city government, pledges to focus on infrastructure, education, public safety, both current service members and veterans and incentives for small businesses and corporations alike if elected.
"I have firsthand experience regarding how new or updated laws affect everyone, and have worked with citizens, State, Federal and Local Authorities in implementing and understanding the anticipated impacts of new or updated laws," Franklin said in his statement. "I understand hard work, dedication and how to accomplish goals. I will also bring diplomacy, the strongest asset a person can have when seeking or holding any legislative position."
