(HUNTINGBURG) - A Huntingburg man was arrested on a warrant Friday after police say he was injured after a meth lab exploded.
Police arrested 23-year-old Justin Morris on felony charges of dealing meth, possession precursors with the intent to manufacture meth and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a probable cause affidavit, on Jan 12 Morris went to Memorial Hospital emergency room after he suffered burns to his face. He told emergency room employees he was attempting to make a homemade bottle rocket when he was injured.
The emergency room staff became suspicious and called police. Morris then told police he was making meth using a 2-liter bottle when it exploded in his face.
The Huntingburg Police Department, assisted by the Dubois County Sheriff's Department and Indiana State Police Clandestine Unit secured a search warrant and went to Morris' apartment. There they found the one-pot meth lab, chemicals used to manufacture meth.
A warrant was issued for Morris' arrest Friday. He was arrested just after 6 p.m. and booked him into the Dubois County Security Center.
