(BLOOMINGTON) - Scammers were found at two different Circle K gas station this week in Bloomington.
The small electronic devices are used by thieves to capture credit card or debit card data, were found Tuesday afternoon inside a gas pump at the Circle K at 2700 East Third St. and another Circle K at 527 East Third St.
According to Bloomington Police Capt. Steve Kellams, an employee noticed that a gas pump display window appeared dim, and called a repairman. The credit card skimmer was found inside the gas pump, and other gas stations were notified to check their pumps.
Officials say the devices may have been on the pumps from about noon on Monday until about noon on Tuesday.
Bedford Police were alerted after a scammer was found this week on a gas pump at the Circle K on Lincoln Avenue.
Police are recommending consumers check bank accounts and credit reports often for potential fraudulent activity or signs of identity theft.
If motorist see anyone other than an employee opening the pump's door notify police and a store employee.
