(BEDFORD) - The annual meeting for the Southern Indiana Cooperative Invasive Management (SICIM) Group is on March 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Spring Mill State Park.
"We have a fabulous keynote speaker coming in from Michigan to share her experience with The Stewardship Network," said Beth Mizell, SICIM Secretary.
Lisa Brush is the Executive Director of The Stewardship Network which is a national award-winning conservation group.
"Lisa is the type of speaker who gets people excited about working together and accomplishing what needs to be done. We just feel very fortunate to be able to bring her in and hope we get a good crowd to hear her speak," said Mizell.
Celebrating Cooperative Weed Management Areas is the theme for the 2016 annual meeting.
Brush was the perfect fit for this theme since leading collaborative conservation initiatives in the nonprofit environmental sector is what she does, and collaboration is what Cooperative Weed Management Areas (CWMAs) are all about.
The fee for the workshop is $25 which includes a buffet lunch. Registration may be done on line at www.sicim.info or by calling Cheryl Coon at 812-275-5987 to RSVP. Spring Mill State Park is located at 3333 State Road 60E, near Mitchell.
In addition to the keynote speaker there will be several other speakers on topics including Small projects Create Big Impacts: building Partnership Foundations, Managing Callery Pear at Crane, a panel discussion on building partnerships, CWMA success stories, awards and more.
