(AVOCA) - A Springville man suffered minor injuries after he fell asleep while driving home Monday night and crashed his pickup into a tree.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 22-year-old Zachery Fish told police he was on his way home from Bedford when he dozed off while driving.
Police say Fish was traveling west on Ind. 54 near Mitchell Street when his 1999 Ford F-350 crossed into the eastbound lane, ran off the south side of the road and struck a tree.
Fish suffered a cut and bruise to his chest from the seat belt. He was treated at the scene by a Seals ambulance crew and was then driven home by his father.
Marshall Volunteer Fire Department first responders assisted at the scene.
