(WASHINGTON) - A Washington couple was arrested after police stopped their vehicle after a traffic violation.
According to Washington City Police, the officer found a shotgun, a magazine for a 9 mm pistol and a safe.
Police arrested 33-year-old Richard Morford and his wife 24-year-old Brittnie Morford.
Richard was arrested for being a convicted serious felon in possession of a weapon and driving while his driver's license was suspended.
Richard Morford was taken to jail and later released on bond. In the meantime, police secured a search warrant to open the safe and what they found led to additional charges being filed against both Richard and Brittnie Morford.
Inside the safe police found a 9 millimeter handgun, 1.4 grams of crystal meth and 26.9 grams of synthetic marijuana.
Brittnie Morford was arrested by Washington City Police Thursday on a warrant for maintaining a common nuisance, possession of meth, and dealing in a synthetic drug or synthetic drug lookalike substance. She was taken to the Daviess County Security Center and is now free on $2,500 bond.
Richard E. Morford was also arrested Thursday on a warrant for maintaining a common nuisance, possession of meth, dealing in a synthetic drug or synthetic drug lookalike substance, and an additional charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. He was being held on $10,000 bond.
