(CRYSTAL) - A West Baden man was injured after he fell asleep and rolled his vehicle Wednesday afternoon west of Crystal.
According to a Dubois County Sheriff's Department report, 29-year-old Phillip D. Asbury was traveling east on State Road 56 in a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier when he fell asleep while driving in the curve east of Dubois Road Northeast.
Police say Asbury's car ran off the south side of the highway, went airborne after traveling up a large embankment and struck several trees. Police say the vehicle rolled numerous times before stopping on the passenger side, well off the highway.
Asbury was able to exit the car through the sunroof.
He suffered injuries to his face and mouth but refused to go the the hospital.
Asbury was cited for operating a vehicle without financial responsibility. Police than gave him a ride home.
Assisting at the scene were the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department, Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services, Uebelhor & Sons wrecker and Freyberger Farms, which brought a tractor to help at the scene.
