(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was arrested after she was found driving intoxicated and breaking a mirror off a police vehicle Monday night.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley officer were contacted by an employee at Casa Brava that a woman who was intoxicated was getting into a vehicle and leaving the parking lot.
Police were given a description of the vehicle and located it on 16th Street.
The driver was pulled the vehicle at 16th Street and Linwood Drive just before 10 p.m.
There officers talked to 33-year-old Julie Essick, of 65 Q St., who had an open container of an alcoholic beverage in the front seat.
Essick failed several field sobriety tests and was uncooperative with officers.
"When they went to put the handcuffs on her she jerked away," Parsley added. "She continued to be uncooperative."
Officers took Essick to IU Health Hospital for a blood-draw.
"There she continued to resist officers both to and from the hospital," Parsley added. "And broke the mirror off one of the police vehicles."
Essick was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicate, resisting arrest by force, criminal mischief, driving while her driver's license was suspended and open container.
