(OOLITIC) - A Bedford woman was injured after she jumped from her vehicle during an accident on Ind.37 Sunday night.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 25-year-old Tianea Davis of Odon was traveling north on Ind. 37 at the Oolitic stop light while 19-year-old Siera Kelly of Bedford was traveling east on Main Street.
The 1998 GM SUV driven by Davis struck the rear passenger side of Kelly's 1997 Chevrolet pickup causing it to spin, cross the median into the southbound lane of Ind. 37 and then collide with the guard rail head-on. The rear passenger side tire then caught on fire.
Before colliding with the guard rail, Kelly, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown to the passenger side of the vehicle and when she noticed the vehicle was going to collide head on with the guard rail opened the door and jumped from the vehicle.
She suffered a possible broken ankle or foot and scrapes from rolling on the asphalt and was taken to IU Health Hospital for treatment.
Davis was not injured during the incident.
Both drivers told police they had the green light. However a witness to the accident claims Davis ran the red light.
