Last updated on Thursday, March 3, 2016

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police Department is offering a Rape Aggression Defense Basic Physical Defense (R.A.D.) Course.

This 4-day self-defense course is designed for women only and is free of charge. Participants are required to attend all four classes.

Classes will be held on Tuesday, March 29; Thursday, March 31; Tuesday, April 5, and Thursday, April 7 at the Public Safety Training Center located at 3230 South Walnut Street in Bloomington.

Classes will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. each of the four nights.

The course will involve both classroom lecture and physical training. It is a beginner level class, so no prior training is needed.

Dress for the classes in comfortable athletic clothing, and it is recommended that participants bring along water or sports drinks and comfortable athletic shoes.

The first night will be mostly classroom lecture, and a short introduction to the physical training that will follow in the next three classes.

For more information about R.A.D. please visit their website at www.rad-systems.com.

The deadline to sign up is March 22.  Class size is limited to approximately 16 participants, so if you are interested contact Paul Post at postp@bloomington.in.gov.

A waitlist will be kept, as BPD will be offering the class again throughout the year.
