(MITCHELL) - The Holiday Drive-In will open for the season Friday showing “Batman vs. Superman” and “How to be Single.”
These movies will be one of the last on 35mm film because owner Steve Wilson says a digital projector has arrived.
The goal is to pay for the older NEC 1600 digital projector. Wilson purchased the projector from a Hazard, Kentucky outdoor theatre that closed due to lack of business. The projector has arrived and is being installed this week.
"If all the parts and pieces work, we will have about $20,000 invested," Wilson wrote in an email. "We have taken in about $10,000 in generous donations."
Regular ticket prices are going up to fund the extra $1,000 per month in digital upkeep - Adults: $9, Kids 6-12 $5, Sunday Night Carload $25.
More donations are needed because Wilson is worried that he will run out of money before the project is ready to go.
If you would like to help the Holiday Drive-In stay open donations can be made at www.gofundme.com/rpf65w.
