(UNDATED) - Kindergarten screening dates are set for local schools.
To be eligible for kindergarten, a child must be 5 years old on or before August 1.
Parents of students who will be eligible to attend kindergarten this fall are asked to call their school before the screening date to schedule an appointment.
Parents need to bring their child's birth certificate, immunization records and, if applicable, proof of custody.
Following is a list of schools, screening dates and phone numbers:
St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School kindergarten screening is April 8. Parents should call (812) 279-2540 for an appointment.
Kindergarten screening at Mitchell schools will take place on April 19-21. Parents are asked to call (812) 849-3834 after March 28 to schedule an appointment.
Orleans Elementary School will take place on April 8. To make a screening appointment, parents should call (812) 865-2688 extension 3.
Kindergarten screening at Paoli's Throop Elementary School will take place on April 12-14. Appointments can be made by calling (812) 723-3537 beginning on March 28. When calling, a parent will need to provide the child's Social Security number. A waiver may be granted by the superintendent for students whose fifth birthday falls on or between Aug. 2 and Sept.1. The screening process will take about two hours. While children are being screened, parents will attend an orientation meeting concerning Throop's kindergarten program.
