(JASPER) - A tip from the public led to the arrest of a Loogootee man Friday night in Jasper.
Police received a tip that a man in a pickup truck was driving recklessly near 36th and Newton streets at about 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
Police say a silver pickup truck was observed by an officer heading south on Newton or U.S. 231 near Baden Strasse. The truck was apparently passing several vehicles in the right hand turn lane.
The driver was stopped at 36th and Manor Drive but not before the driver was seen by police throwing items out of the car.
The driver, 38-year old Johnathon Taylor of Loogootee, was arrested after officers retrieve the items that were thrown from the vehicle. Those items included a backpack that contained marijuana and meth. Police also found a controlled substance inside the truck.
Taylor is facing a Level 6 felony county of possession of meth and misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.
