(MITCHELL) - A 25-year-old Mitchell man was arrested after police say he attacked a pregnant woman.
According to a Lawrence County Superior Court II probable cause affidavit, police were called to a home in the 200 block of West Frank Street on March 2 after a report that Martie Barlow was damaging the home.
Barlow's mother told police that Barlow had thrown a chair through the front door.
The situation calmed down and police left, but they were called back later after a call that Barlow had attacked a woman who was 5-months pregnant.
According to police, the woman was at the home helping Barlow's mother when Barlow began yelling at his mother. The woman attempted to calm Barlow down, but Barlow kicked down the front door and began shouting profanities and then pushed her against a wall.
The victim struggled to get away and that is when Barlow grabbed her by the throat, swung a fist at her and grazed her face.
Barlow's mother and the victim's mother asked with Barlow to stop, but he refused.
Barlow then pushed the victim's mother, causing her to hit her head on the wall. He then shoved the pregnant woman to the floor, injuring her knees.
The victim's mother then called police. Knowing the police were coming, Barlow threatened to kill everyone in the home.
Barlow was arrested at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday on warrants charging him with two counts of intimidation and battery resulting in bodily injury to a pregnant woman.
