(FERDINAND) - Two Mitchell teens were injured in a crash on State Road 162 north of Ferdinand, Sunday
According to a Dubois County Sheriff's Department report, 46-year-old Amy Rickelman of Ferdinand was traveling north on State Road 162 in a 2011 Kia Sorento and had stopped so she could turn west onto County Road 815 South. As she attempted to make the turn, her SUV was hit in the ear by a 2004 Ford F-150 driving by 41-year-old T. Clay Smith of Mitchell.
Smith told police that he was distracted and didn't see Rickelman's vehicle stop.
Smith had three juveniles in his truck; two were injured. A 14-year-old boy suffered face and head injures and another 14-year-old boy complained of neck and shoulder pain following the incident.
Rickelman suffered head, neck and hand injuries and her passenger, 20-year-old Max Rickelman of Ferdinand, suffered a cut to his head.
Two Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services ambulances transported the victims to Memorial Hospital for treatment. Assisting at the scene were Ferdinand Police and Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department.
