(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell woman was arrested after she hit a man Friday night at Spring Mill State Park campground.

According to Lawrence County Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, Rebecca Edmonson became mad and began acting erratically at the campground.

"Rebecca got mad and started hitting the victim while she was driving," Shoults says.

According to police, the two were exiting the park in Edmonson's 1987 General Motors suburban, when Edmonson struck a parked 1993 Ford F-350, owned by Chad A. Cook of Paoli. Cook was not involved in the battery incident.

After the accident, both Edmonson and the male victim got out of the Suburban.

"That is when Rebecca hit the man in the face," Shoults added.

A witness called 911 at 8:59 p.m.

One Mitchell officer and two county officers responded and saw the two damaged vehicles.

The Mitchell officer, who responded first, separated Edmonson and the man to stop the fight.

According to the accident report, Edmonson complaining of pain to her leg.

As officers were talking to Edmonson, they noticed she was disoriented.

"She refused a chemical test," Shoults added. "She was taken to IU Health Bedford Hospital, and we got a search warrant for a blood draw."

While at the hospital, a doctor said her leg was fine, but she suffered a broken nose.

The victim initially refused any medical treatment, but he later told police he was going to a hospital because he thought he had a pinched nerve in his neck and his arm hurt.

Edmonson was arrested on charges of battery causing bodily injury. Shoults says she could face more charges depending on the results of the blood test.
