Last updated on Tuesday, March 29, 2016

(BLOOMINGTON) - Monroe County Correctional Center inmate Michael Favor died Sunday after jumping from the upper level of his cell block late Saturday morning.

According to Sheriff Brad Swain, 33-year-old Favor of Unionville had been incarcerated since March 23 on a parole violation and possession of meth, a level five felony.

Investigators say Favor climbed over a rail and intentionally dropped off the cell block Saturday morning. He was taken to IU Health Bloomington hospital where he died Sunday morning.

An investigation using video surveillance indicates his actions to climb over the rail and fall were deliberate, according to the release.

Favor was talking on the telephone Saturday
morning before he was seen
walking upstairs to the upper floor of the cell block.

Two of Favor's sisters were present when he died in the hospital, according to the news release.
