(CENTER TOWNSHIP) - A Springville man died in a head-on collision on State Road 45 Thursday morning.
According to an Indiana State Police report, 25-year-old Joshua Mikel Fiscus suffered fatal internal injuries in the accident.
The accident happened around 7:30 a.m.
Fiscus was traveling south on State Road 45 in a 2004 Pontica Vibe when he began to enter a curve.
At the same time 39-year-old Aaron Miller of Bloomfield was exiting the curve, traveling northeast in a 1994 Ford F-150.
Police say for an unknown reason Fiscus' car traveled left of the center line and into the path of the pickup truck.
The impact forced Miller's vehicle off the roadway, and Fiscus' car spun counterclockwise and stopped in the southbound lane.
Emergency personnel attempted to free Fiscus from the vehicle. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by the Greene County Coroner's Office.
Miller sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to IU Health Bloomington.
State Road 45 was closed in both directions for nearly 2.5 hours, with the roadway reopening around 10 a.m.
Assisting at the scene were the Greene County Sheriff's Department, Greene County Ambulance Service, Center Township Fire Department and Van Buren Township Fire Department.
