(MITCHELL) - Two men were arrested Wednesday in connection to a stabbing in Mitchell.
According to Lawrence County Sheriff Mike Branham, officers armed with arrest warrants went to a home at Lakeside Estates to arrest 27-year-old Richard "Dickie" Jamison and 35-year-old Chad Grissom.
As police were pulling up to the home they saw Dickie Jamison pulling away in a red GMC pickup. Officers stopped the truck. Grissom was a passenger in the truck. Both were arrested.
Jamison is facing a Level 6 felony charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance, and two warrants of petition to revoke probation.
Grissom is facing a Level 3 felony charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of marijuana, visiting a common nuisance.
According to Sheriff Branham, Lawrence County Detectives took over the investigation after Mitchell Police Chief Steve Blair asked because his department is understaffed.
Police received the call about the stabbing on March 9 at 3:36 p.m. after a woman called 911 and reported a stabbing at 150 Dale Street. A Seals ambulance and Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department rushed to the scene.
However the incident happened at 160 Dale Street.
There they found 22-year-old Skyler Smith injured. Air Evac was requested, but due to weather conditions they were unable to fly. Smith was then taken by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for treatment. Smith suffered a punctured lung and underwent surgery and is recovering.
