Bloomington Announces Blooming Neighborhoods Celebration
Last updated on Thursday, April 28, 2016
(BLOOMINGTON) - The City of Bloomington has announced that the Blooming Neighborhood Celebration will take place on Saturday, June 4, 2016, 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Farmers’ Market, 401 N Morton St.
This will be the 16th year that Bloomington neighborhoods have been gathering together to share in the camaraderie of spirit, work and success of our neighborhoods. The theme for 2016 is "#b-town neighborhoods #redhot!" The celebration will provide a venue for the neighborhoods to feature what is happening in their neighborhood through several activities.
- "#b-town neighborhoods #redhot!" - is the 2016 theme for the Blooming Neighborhood Celebration. Let's face it - we all love our own neighborhood and always happy to share with others what makes our neighborhood such a special place. Please send a picture of your neighborhood that want to feature with the hashtag you want to use by Monday, April 11th. At the Blooming Neighborhood Celebration I will have an 11 inch by 17 inch poster of your picture with the hashtag. Your poster can be used as our neighborhood sign for our table at the Blooming Neighborhood Celebration. More information below on the flyer!
- "My Neighborhood Potluck Idea!" - For 2016 you can add to this fun book, which is a collection of recipes that share the special ingredients of making a neighborhood project work. We are encouraging neighborhoods to add to the Potluck book! You can find the template "My Neighborhood Potluck Idea!" available here. No ideas can be too small or too big, enter as many ideas as you would like! It is early yet, so start thinking about what idea you can share with your fellow Bloomingtonians. You can contact Vickie Provine at provinev@bloomington.in.gov or 812-349-3505 to request a hard copy.
- Neighborhood Grant List - HAND has created a listing for each neighborhood of all the HAND grants they have been awarded since 1998. Each neighborhood will receive this list at the Blooming Neighborhoods Celebration, so they can share with others about their projects and how they made them work. The neighborhood can be creative as they want with this listing, i.e., adding your projects, activities and programs that you have initiated.
Contact Vickie Provine at provinev@bloomington.in.gov or call 812-349-3505 for more information about Blooming Neighborhood Celebration or any of the neighborhood programs provided by the Housing and Neighborhood Development Department.
