(BIRDSEYE) - An Indiana State trooper was bitten by a dog while he was investigating a meth lab in Birdseye.
According to the Dubois County Sheriff's Department, police went to the home in the 100 block of Ingle Street to arrest Stephen Clapp, who was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court on a previous meth charge and driving while his driver's license was suspended.
While at the home, deputies discovered ingredients and items used to make meth in the front yard.
Authorities contacted Karen Clapp, who owns the home, and she gave police permission to search the property.
The Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team responded to the scene.
As a member of the team was processing the scene, one of the Clapps' dogs bit him. The dog was not immunized following the incident.
Police then secured a search warrant to search the home and to remove five dogs from the property. The animals were taken to the Dubois County Humane Society.
During the search, police found a one-pot meth lab, meth paraphernalia and an HCL generator.
Karen Clapp was also arrested on felony charges of dealing meth, possessing precursors with the intent to manufacture meth and maintaining a common nuisance, and misdemeanor charges of cruelty to animals, harbor in a non-immuninized dog that injures a person and possession of drug paraphernalia.
