(BROWNSTOWN) - A contractor’s accidental rupture of a gas main Friday forced police to evacuate a one-block area in Brownstown briefly.
Police Chief Tom Hanner says the rupture of the 2-inch line occurred at about noon Friday in an area behind 303 Jodi Drive on the town's north west side.
Police and other emergency personnel blocked off traffic for about 45 minutes in the area of Jodi and Kelly drives until workers with Midwest Natural Gas could stop the leak and begin repairs.
