(BEDFORD) - Jamie Hudson’s contract as Bedford North Lawrence boys head basketball coach was not extended during Thursday night’s North Lawrence Community School board meeting.
Justin Sokeland of HHCSports.com reports that by a 4-3 decision, the board voted against renewing Hudson's contract
During a tense meeting, which included voices in opposition to the proposal to extend Hudson's contract through the 2016-17 season, board members Beth Ritter, Kirsten Collier, Donnie Branhan and Larry Arnold voted against the recommendation.
Hudson coached the Stars for 9 seasons and posted a 107-96 record, winning one Hoosier Hills Conference championship. BNL had four losing seasons during his tenure and did not win a sectional championship. The Stars went 4-9 in the postseason and played in three sectional finals.
Hudson told Sokeland he was stunned by the decision, but he was at peace with the decision saying, "God has great plans for me."
BNL Athletic Director Jeff Callahan must now start the search for a successor. Hudson was the seventh coach in program history, following Bob Masterson, Mike Sorrells, Dan Bush, Mark Mathews, Mark Ryan and Damon Bailey.
