(JASPER) - The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Loogootee man Wednesday afternoon on a felony stalking charge.
Police arrested 38-year-old Jonathon Taylor. He was out on bond at the time of his arrest after having been charged by the Jasper Police Department over the weekend with a felony drug charge.
Taylor was arrested after a woman who has an active protective order in place against Taylor came to the sheriff's department Wednesday to report Taylor was harassing her in violation of that protective order.
Just after leaving the sheriff's department, the woman was contacted by her employer and told Taylor was parked and watching her place of employment.
The woman went to the Indiana State Police post at 2209 Newton St., which was the first safe place she could find after getting the news about Taylor.
Jasper Police went to her place of employment, and found Taylor at a business across from the state police post. Officers found Taylor who had a 9 mm handgun and an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle in his vehicle.
Taylor was arrested on a Level 4 felony charge of stalking while armed with a deadly weapon and a misdemeanor count of invasion of privacy for allegedly violating the protective order.
On Friday, Taylor had been arrested by Jasper police who had been called at 8:35 p.m. about a silver truck driving recklessly while southbound on Newton Street.
A Jasper officer spotted the truck just past Baden Strasse and reported observing it passing several other vehicles in the right turn lane of Newton Street.
Police stopped the vehicle after they saw Taylor throw several items out of the truck while traveling west on 36th Street.
The vehicle was stopped at 36th Street and Manor Drive.
Officers retrieved the backpack that was thrown out the truck's window and found it contained marijuana and meth. They also found a controlled substance inside the truck.
Taylor at that time was arrested on charges of a Level 6 felony count of possession of meth and misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and illegal possession of a controlled substance.
He was booked into the county jail at 11:14 p.m. Friday and posted bond less than two hours later.
