Dugger Announces New Town Marshal, Two New Deputies

(DUGGER) - Dugger has a new town marshal and two new deputy marshals.

The Dugger Town Council President Billy Pirtle says four people applied for the position. The Council named Joe Ray as marshal.

The Greene County Daily World Reports, the council hired two deputy marshals, each working part-time. The new deputy marshals are Justin Todd and Bryan Shelton.

All new hires will have a one year probationary period.

In other business the council:

The council announced the terms of its settlement with former Marshal Dave Heaton, saying it will pay Heaton at his regular rate of pay until his accrued 336 hours have been paid.
Discussed the purchase of a police vehicle for the town, saying a suitable vehicle has been located and can be had for $2,200 with a trade-in of the old vehicle.
Discussed animal leash laws, along with clean-up laws, both covered under ordinance but infrequently enforced. The council assured residents that the ordinances will be more strictly enforced in the future.
The council also announced the hiring of Kay Ammerman to sell cemetery plots for the town cemetery, and Billy Kincaid and Greg Flyer to fill the position of cemetery upkeep, with each working part time.
Discussed applying for housing grants, but will wait until the current town audit is complete.
