(ORLEANS) - Orleans Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Robert F. Henderson says that the buds that he has seen on the dogwoods around town are really plentiful.
"We are certainly hoping and keeping our fingers crossed that these very frigid nights doesn't spoil the 'show'," Henderson says.
"Operation Dogwood," launched in the mid 1960's resulted in hundreds of the trees planted along roads, in the historic town park square, around the town three cemeteries and in yards.
This year marks the 48th anniversary of celebrating the blooming of the dogwood in Orleans which the town marks annually with its Dogwood Festival set this year the last week of April.
