(SEYMOUR) - A Salem woman was injured Monday just before 9 a.m. in a single-vehicle crash southbound near the 52 mile marker on I-65 in Jackson County.
According to Indiana State Police Trooper Seth Davidson, 19-year-old Haley R. Weeden was driving a 2007 Ford Escape southbound on I-65 near the 52 mile marker when her vehicle entered the median of the interstate. Weeden's vehicle then re-entered and crossed the southbound lanes of travel before leaving the roadway and rolling multiple times before coming to a stop.
Weeden was flown from the scene to University of Louisville Hospital by Stat Flight Helicopter for treatment of her injuries. Weeden's injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in this crash.
"This crash is a prime example of how seatbelts undoubtedly save lives," Trooper Davidson says.
The southbound lanes of I-65 were closed for approximately 30 minutes due to Stat Flight landing on the interstate.
Trp. Davidson and Trp. Ed Olibo were assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Excise Police, Jackson County Sheriff's Department, Jackson County EMS, and 31 Wrecker.
