(BEDFORD) - Bedford North Lawrence Senior Michael Young secured the 2016 Mr. BNL crown Friday night at the Performing Art Center.
Not only did he claim the crown but was named Mr. Congeniality.
The all-male beauty contest was presented by the Bedford North Lawrence Renaissance.
The competition is the primary fundraiser of Renaissance, which encourages and rewards students for good attendance and improving their grades.
Mr. BNL is open to any male student. Each candidate represents a school club or team. The teens are judged on a fitness routine (20 points), costume (25 points), talent (20 points), formalwear/interview (25 points) and overall impression (10 points.)
This years contestants and the club/activity represent were: Jacob Bergman, Bedrockathon; Brandon Decker, Latin Club; Kaleb Figg, speech team; Collin Hays, newspaper; Cal Kinman, Chess Club; Payton Kittaka, Key Club; Patrick Lee, Renaissance; Geoff Livingston, German Club; Nouhad Melki, Pep Club; Kyle Moore, Anime; Henry Orsborn, Guitar Society; Jacob Osborn, FFA; Nathan Porter, French Club; Will Upham, StarStruck; Michael Young, soccer.
