(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police arrested a Spencer man Friday on drug charges after receiving a call about him slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle in the parking lot of business.
Police went to the business in the 200 block of North Jacob Drive at 6:40 p.m. on Friday.
Police arrested 22-year-old Derek Curvin on three charges of possession of heroin, possession of a synthetic drug - spice and possession of a controlled substance - Xanax and three preliminary charges for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also wanted on a warrant in Owen County.
When police arrived they found him slumped over in the car and he would not respond, he appeared to not be breathing.
The officer opened the door and removed Curvin, who was unconscious. A baggie containing what appeared to be spice and heroin were in the vehicle. Police also found a Xanax pill, two smoking devices and a scale inside the car.
Curvin was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital by ambulance and after being treated was taken to jail.
