(SPRINGVILLE) - What started as a verbal argument over living arrangements caused a Springville man to land behind bars.
According to Lawrence County Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, officers were called to a home in the 440 block of North Pike Road for a second time at 1:33 a.m. this morning.
They learned that a verbal fight between two men became physical. The 50-year-old male victim told police that Jason Roberts had thrown a 91-pound sledge hammer at him. The handle allegedly hit him in the right eye area.
Shoults says the victim's eye was swollen during the investigation.
Officers arrested 45-year-old Roberts on a charge of battery and also discovered Roberts was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear.
