(SPRINGVILLE) - A Bedford teen was arrested after a man caught him breaking into his home Tuesday.
Lawrence County police received a 911 call at 7:48 p.m. from a resident in the 100 block of Graves Addition saying he was laying in bed when he heard the door open and was able to catch and detain the man until police arrived.
Police arrested 19-year-old Garrett Hostetter of Bedford for residential entry.
The resident told police that someone had broke into his into his trailer earlier in the day and stole some of his medication.
When police searched Hostetter they an eyeglass case the contained a smoking device with meth residue, Synthorid pills, a thyroid medication and phentermine hydrocholoride pills which are used to decrease appetite.
After finding the pills, Hostetter admitted he was in the trailer earlier in the day, but said he did not take the pills, but police say the phentermine hydrochloride was the medication stolen from the owner.
Hostetter was then charged with possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, a second count of residential entry and burglary.
He is being held without bond because he was on probation on a charge of maintaining a common nuisance.
