(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington - Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter has announced the promotion of Trooper Tyler Dawley and Trooper Dustin Mathews to the rank of Corporal.
Corporal Dawley will serve as the District Duty Officer, overseeing various line command and administrative duties at the Bloomington Post. Corporal Dawley will also oversee the functional supervision of Bloomington District operations and delegate assignments to troopers working in the field.

Trooper Dawley is originally from Ellettsville Indiana, Corporal Dawley is a 1996 graduate of Edgewood High School. He is currently pursuing an Associate's Degree in General Studies at Ivy Tech Community College
Corporal Dawley was a member of the 70th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and on March 4th, 2011 was appointed as a Trooper and assigned to the Indiana State Police Post in Bloomington where he primarily patrolled Owen and Monroe Counties.
During his career, Corporal Dawley has served the Department in many ways including serving as a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon Team (Riot Squad). Tyler led the Bloomington District in total DUI arrests in 2012. Corporal Dawley also attended the Drug Enforcement Agency's Clandestine Methamphetamine School in Quantico, Virginia.
The son of Gordon and Beth Dawley, Tyler has three children of his own; Zachary and Ethan Dawley age 10 and 8-year-old Ava Dawley.
Corporal Mathews originally from Versailles Indiana, Corporal Mathews is a 2007 graduate of South Ripley High School. He graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Political Science. Before being selected for the ISP Academy, Corporal Mathews served in an administrative capacity for the U.S. Secret Service for 3 years where he held a Top-Secret security clearance. He was a member of the 71st Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and on March 16th, 2012 was appointed as a Trooper and assigned to the Indiana State Police Post in Bloomington where he primarily patrolled Monroe County.
During his career, Corporal Mathews has served the Department in a variety of ways including as a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon Team (Riot Squad).
Dustin and his wife Karla have two children and are residents of Owen County.
