(BROWNSTOWN) - Brownstown Police are warning motorist of a male who is impersonating police.
On Sunday police received a call about a police impersonator in the Cortland area.
The impersonator was driving a black SUV and displayed white flashing lights in the front window. The white male is approximately 6' in height and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt at the time of the incident.
Police want to remind the public that police use red and blue colored lights in Indiana. White flashing lights may be visible but always in combination with red and blue.
In general a police officer will be in a marked police vehicle, distinctive police uniform displaying a badge of authority, or both in combination.
When in doubt that you are being stopped by an actual police officer dial 911.
