Driver In Triple Fatal Accident Was Intoxicated At Time Of Crash

(RIPLEY CO.) - The driver that caused a triple fatal accident on April 5 was intoxicated.

On Tuesday, Indiana State Police investigators received the toxicology results back from a triple fatal accident that occurred at 1:30 a.m. on April 5th, on US 50 at County Road 300 West which showed the driver of one of the vehicles was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

In that crash, a 2003 Buick passenger car being driven by 31-year-old Andre N. Devant of Cincinnati, OH, was traveling southbound on County Road 300 West when he pulled into the path of a 2007 International tractor-trailer traveling eastbound on US 50 that was being driven by 37-year-old Alexander K. Benge of Shoals.

As a result of the collision, Devant and his two passengers; 27-year-old Margaret A. Guinn and 3-year-old Aaliyah Guinn, both of Cincinnati, OH; were killed in the crash.

Toxicology results on Andre Devant showed that he was intoxicated at the time of the crash with a blood alcohol content of .19 percent, which is over two times the legal limit in the State of Indiana. Devant also tested positive for marijuana. Toxicology results also showed that Margaret Guinn had a BAC of .22 percent.

The toxicology results on Alexander Benge are still pending at this time.
