(SPENCER) - 32-year-old Autumn McCreery of Edgewood was pronounced dead today after she was swimming and did not resurface at the Cataract Falls.
Witnesses say McCreery was swimming when she disappeared beneath the surface. The area has multiple signs prohibiting swimming where the incident took place.
A friend of McCreery called 911 at 2:39 p.m. Indiana Conservation Officers responded to the scene and recovered the victim at 3:43 p.m.
CPR was administered on site.
Indiana Conservation Officers are conducting an investigation on the incident but no foul play is suspected at this time.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
Based on witness statements from McCreery's friends it appears alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the incident..
Responding agencies include: Owen County Sheriff's Department, Cataract Township Fire Department, and Owen County Ambulance Service.
