(BLOOMFIELD) - Two Greene County residents have recently been awarded for their work at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility during Employee Appreciation Week.
Jodeana Raney and Lt. Shad Allen received awards for being Employee of the Year and Supervisor of the year, respectively.
According to Rich Larson, senior public information officer, the awards are based on positive achievements.
"In order to be recognized, individuals are selected from those that have been awarded during the monthly selections and are then pooled into categories," Larson told the Greene County Daily World.
Raney was awarded the Employee of the Year award due to willingness to assist in any situation, quickly volunteering when she saw a need and always being willing to assist in other areas, according to a press release from the WVCF.
Raney started with the WVCF in 1993, but left in 2007. She returned in 2012 and has been working there since.
Raney said she also received Employee of the Year as a secretary in the 90s.
Allen was awarded the Supervisor of the Year for being extremely dependable, maintaining a positive attitude, and encouraging professionalism. He has also received letters of recommendation for the work he has completed, strong leadership skills, and high degree of cooperation.
The WVCF has been awarding employees for their efforts since the establishment annually since 1992.
