Lawrence County Native Promoted To First Sergeant

(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter has announced the promotion of Sergeant Jason Cobb to the rank of First Sergeant.

He will serve as the Field Support Region Supervisor of the Laboratory Division for Area III (Southwest). His primary responsibilities will include overseeing the laboratory crime scene responses as well as the security, management and field quality assurance protocols of the district evidence systems. F/Sgt Cobb will also be supervising and evaluating the performance of the Crime Scene Investigators and District Evidence Clerks.

Originally from Bedford, F/Sgt Cobb is a 1993 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School. He then attended Indiana University for 3 and a half years. He was a member of the 55th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and in 1997 was appointed as a Trooper and assigned to the Toll Road District where he patrolled Porter, Laporte and St. Joseph's Counties. He also worked the Jasper District before transferring to the Bloomington District where he primarily patrolled Lawrence County.

In 2010, F/Sgt Cobb was promoted to Crime Scene Investigator and served the Bloomington and Versailles Districts.

During his career, he has served the department in a variety of ways including as a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon Team (Riot Squad) and the ISP Honor Guard.

Jason and his wife have two children and are residents of Lawrence County.
