(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was injured after he lost control of his vehicle on Ind. 37 at Wesley Chapel Road Sunday.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 74-year-old Lee Schmid could not remember what happened to cause the accident that happened at 5:18 p.m.
Schmid, who suffered contusions and bruising to his chest, had to be freed from the wreckage.
He was flown by Air Evac helicopter from the seach to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.
According to police, Schmid was traveling north on Ind. 37 when his 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis went off the east side of the road and into an embankment. The car "jumped" over the embankment and went airborne over Wesley Chapel Road and landed in the embankment north of the road and overturned on the driver's side.
Assisting at the scene was a Seals ambulance, Marion Volunteer Fire Department and Bedford Fire Department extrication unit and Air Evac.
