(BEDFORD) - A Mitchell woman was killed after she crashed her car on U.S. 50 East, west of Shawswick Station Road Tuesday night.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 59-year-old Rita Amburgey Moore was traveling west on U.S. 50 East when she crossed the center line driving her 2003 Buick Century off the left side of the road.
The vehicle traveled 153 feet along the side of the road and struck a large tree.
The vehicle had major front end damage trapping Moore in the vehicle.
When officers and Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department arrived Moore was not breathing. The officer and firefighter began CPR until an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew arrived, They continued CPR while Bedford Fire Department extrication removed the door from the vehicle.
Moore was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:56 p.m.
