(LOOGOOTEE) - The Loogootee School Board hired a new school superintendent.
The Washington Times Herald reports that High School Principal Chip Mehaffey will fill the position being vacated by the retirement of Dr. Joan Keller.
Mehaffey has been at Loogootee since January of 2015. Prior to that, he was an athletic director for Muncie Central High School and later the Chief Financial Officer for Muncie Public Schools.
In one of his first official duties, he announced the hiring of a new principal to take his place.
Chad Musselwhite, a Jasper native was picked for the job out of 26 applicants. Musselwhite spent 14 years in the Edgewood School District.
Both will take their positions on July 1.
